Mike Lin is auctioning off NFTs of Banksy’s artwork this Saturday without authority. He says he is minting over 50 images of Banksy artworks for sale on the Rarible NFT platform This is interesting because, as reported previously here and here some think that Banksy has lost control of his IP rights, in part because of his anonymity and in part because of his behaviour; and this means others may seek to take advantage. As I said last week I expect IP infringement will abound in NFT sales, see here. ![]() Lin has offered 50% of the proceeds to Banksy if he reveals his identity – well that is not going to happen! He is using domain names: ‘BanksyNFT.org’ and ‘PestControlOfficeNFT.com’; of course if Banksy were able to prove ownership of his trademarks he could take these sites down. Could a legal fight ensure? Lin says: “I don’t expect any issues, but I am actually hoping for legal troubles; I’m in Taipei, Taiwan, so good luck with that.” ! More likely is that NFTs will become the new IP battleground. Protecting your Business Idea, Invention and Competitive Advantage with Intellectual Property
