People, culture and service are winning on the Marlow High Street

Many independent retailers have closed their doors for the last time over the last 5 years.
 
This is also true of my local town, Marlow.
 
However, Runners’ Retreat (the running shop) just celebrated its 10th anniversary this last Sunday with what else: a 10 mile or 10km run! Three hundred runners took part

​The running shop is one of a handful of independent retailers nestling amongst the large national chains of coffee shops, hairdressers, and restaurants.
 
Runners’ Retreat thrive and survive because of their expertise and enthusiasm, as you can see, they are all athletes and they really know about running, (oh and did I say my daughter works there too!)
 
The real secret sauce, however, is a friendly, positive and supportive culture. They help and support local juniors, ‘couch to 5K’ runners and even international athletes.
 
A recipe that has worked for them for 10 years and hopefully will continue to work for many more.
 
My new shoes, On Cloud Ultras, are very comfortable and light and I am sure extremely fast (just on someone else!)
