Businesses now need to take steps to make sure new employees do not start a new job and carry across trade secrets from another business. In this US case the sensitive information was deemed valuable for a competitor in the healthcare recruitment business. Photo courtesy of Michael Dziedzic on Unsplash The receiving business was told to (1) return information brought to it by a new employee from his previous employer and (2) not to use such information in any way to submit bids on any recruitment contracts. Asking new employees to sign an acknowledgement that they will not bring any third party confidential information is important. Businesses should also provide training to their employees and have policies in place that explain the consequences regarding unauthorised use of confidential information.
