This recent headline is why governments are putting so much focus on trade secrets, improving laws and making it more difficult for trade secret theft to avoid sanction.

“Those who conspire to steal technology from a U.S. business can cause tremendous damage,” said Director Alan Kohler of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division. “Good-paying jobs could be lost, and communities can suffer. This is why the FBI puts so much effort into investigating cases of economic espionage". 

The perpetrator Zheng faces up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $5 million.
